Slurry disposal can be a major problem for intensive livestock producers.
The traditional approach has been to provide storage for slurry produced
through the winter so that it may be spread in the spring. Slurry
separation and dirty irrigation sysytems will reduce the need for
bulk storage but a high investment in fixed equipment - of minimal
resale value - is necessary. Storage of slurry in bulk presents
a pollution risk and is necessarily expensive.
The Tanka 410 is a new approach to the problem of slurry and sludge
disposal. Using Low Ground Pressure Techniques allows access to agricultural
land throught the year. The ability to spread steadiliy through the
year means that the need for secure winter storage may be much reduced.
Combining the traditional tractor and tanker in one compact package
gives a number of dividends. Weight is much reduced allowing true
low ground pressure with a generous tank size. The Tanka 410 will
be 2 - 4 tonnes lighter than a similar capacity tractor pulled unit.
The narrow chassis design of the Tanka 410 means that wide flotation
tyres can be accomodated within a modest overall width.
Traction is undoubtedly superior since all wheels are driven and also
support the weight of slurry in the unit.
Manouverability is much better than a trailed combination. The rigid
chassis means that reversing is easy and tight turns are easy.
The Tanka 410 prime mover has a rigid chassis with two drive axles.
The pivoting front steering axle has 55 degree lock angle and makes tha unit
far more manouverable than a tractor/ Tanker combination. The Rigid
rear axle allows sufficient clearance for 800mm wide rear tyres to
be fitted. The unit has been designed with a long wheelbase and minimal
overhang for the best of off road ability together with a superior
ride during transport.
The Heavy Duty JCB drive axles feature oil immersed power assisted
disc brakes for maximum safety in field and on the road. Axles are
capable of handling the largest flotation wheels without overloading.
The two man cabin features a front opening door and a full length
instrument and control console. All operating controlls are grouped
to allow easy operation.
TANK SPECIFICATIONS AND OPTIONAL EQUIPTMENT:
The 110 hp Perkins 1000 series turbocharged diesel engine drives through
a 4 speed JCB powershift transmission.. Field and road operation is
easy with gears being selected by a column mounted twistgrip control.
A wide range of speeds are available for field and road operation
up to over 30 kph.
