Large quantities of slurry can thus be applied with the very minimum exposure to the air and the minimum contamination of pasture. Experience has shown that smell is virtually eliminated and stock are happy to graze recently applied pasture. The true benefit however is that since exposure of slurry to the atmosphere is minimised there is a corresponding improvement in the utilisation of slurry nutrients allowing savings to be made in artificial fertilisers.
The Veenhuis injector shown in the picture is mounted on the Tanka 410 Low Ground Pressure Slurry Tanker. This unit is able to apply slurry during periods when ground is soft without damaging pasture and soil structure. The Chavtrac 410 / Veenhuis combination makes a compact unit suitable for farmers and contractors who require an adaptable, all year round application unit. The prototype unit shown has now been working for 6 months, injecting farm and industrial waste products in Ireland. The combination unit is compact and manoeuvrable, being only 3m wide, and has a potential output of up to 100,000 galls per day. Low running costs and one man operation mean that for many application jobs the unit will outperform umbilical systems. The 111hp Perkins engine and selectable 4 wheel drive system provides ample pulling power in all conditions and the 800mm wide Trelleborg tyres provide superb flotaion in the softest ground conditions. 1998 Retail price for the latest version of this unit will be £62,200.00
