Chavtrac show a field scale, multi product variable rate, GPS controlled crop sprayer at Sprays and Sprayers 1997

24 June 1997 : Chavtrac have been developing a variable rate application system for 18 months and at Sprays and Sprayers the production prototype of the system will be shown.

The Spra Coupe base vehicle provides a lightweight, high clearance all year vehicle for chemical application. The basic spraying system on the standard Spra Coupe is ideally suited to precision applications with its fast response and compact design. AVAILABLE NOW.

The Raven Direct injection Pumps inject chemical at high pressure just before the boom giving the fastest possible response with minimal lag. The wide range of application rates mean that these pumps are ideally suited for precision applications and patch spraying is possible by varying pump speed between zero and maximum speed. AVAILABLE NOW

The Raven SCS 750 control console can control up to 5 different chemical applications independently with fast response and a new large screen giving maximum information to the operator. The SCS 750 is fitted as standard with a computer serial connection allowing it to be commanded externally. AVAILABLE NOW

The Raven GPS controller contains not only a GPS receiver but also a differential GPS receiver for accuracy down to metres, plus a 486 computer with sufficient capacity to both Control and log many hours of spraying. AVAILABLE AUTUMN 97

Chavtrac have developed the PATCHWORK software system allowing all these elements to function together and giving the farmer a simple visual interface to design and monitor his spraying plans. Patchwork provides a standardised interface between the farmers field and yield mapping system and the Raven Variable Rate Application Controllers for both liquids and solid fertilser products. Production PATCHWORK systems will be available in limited numbers for Spring 1998.
